My Sunday morning routine has become; make a pot of Indian masala tea, chill out in my custum built window seat and do some reading or listen to a podcast. This morning I tuned in to Huberman for some Winter Resilience advice and this is what I picked

Two key points to protect yourself from colds and flus in the winter months.
- Keep your nasal passages lubricated.
- Keep your core temperature warm.
Nose Breathing – Your first defence
Get outdoor as often as you can light or dark….and breath through your nose.
When you breath through the mouth – everything gets in – Its too late Read on to your 2nd defence
Your nasal passages are lined with small hairs and mucus which catches and kills bacteria and viruses before they can get into your body.
Keep your mucus healthy by breathing through the nose in moist conditions outdoors😉
When you are sneezing you ARE contagious, however if you have been in company of someone sneezing you are not doomed to be sick! If you have loved ones that are unwell and need your company or assistance you can prevent yourself getting sick by having healthy nasal defence. You can protect yourself after by cleansing or washing your hands and your face then get back outdoors into moist air for more nose breathing. Being around someone sneezy does not guarantee you get sick, what you do to keep yourself healthy counts! The old adage stands true, when you look after yourself you are in a better position to help those around you.
Keep Your Core Warm – Your second defence
A healthy heated core temperature kills off bacteria and viruses. So you may pick up something but you will not get as sick if you are healthy on the inside yourself.

Regular practice of heating yoga sequence can keep your core warm
But should you stop cold dipping…No!
Cold immersion does boost your immune system but do what it takes to get warm after; hot soup or cuppa, sauna, open fire, hot bath or shower, hot water bottles, wim hoff breathing, heating yoga sequences, excercise. Get Cold…don’t stay cold!
Note: If you are feeling run down, shivery or feel the start of a cold it is best to avoid cold immersion for a few days.
So here’s a little 3-Step protocol of my own:
Step 1: 7-10 mins heated practice
Step 2: Step outdoors and nose breath for 3-5 minutes
Step 3: Get on with your day hug your loved ones like you Nose you should ;-D
Nama-stay Healthy, Stay Hearty 🙂
