Stepping Gently Into My Path as a Reiki Teacher

A cozy room with a massage table covered in brown blankets, a lit fireplace with a mirror above, and soft, colorful lights casting a warm glow—perfect for a Reiki Teacher to create a relaxing and healing atmosphere.

Reflections on My First Reiki Level 1 Training

I recently had the honor of hosting my very first Reiki Level 1 Training in my home studio, and it was a deeply nourishing experience. The space, with its open fire and low lighting, is one I personally retreat to often for grounding and healing. To be able to invite others into this space for their own journey was something truly special.

From the moment I welcomed the group, it felt like we were creating a small sanctuary together. I kept the group size intentionally small, not just because it was my first time teaching Reiki, but because I wanted to really tune in to where each person was in their journey. Some were returning to Reiki for the second time, while others were stepping into it for the very first time. The energy was so diverse, but we quickly found our rhythm.

To help everyone feel at ease, I asked participants to arrive 20 minutes early so we could share a cuppa and chat. It made such a difference to ease into the day like this. We had lunch together in my kitchen, and it was during this meal that a deeper connection formed. We laughed, shared stories, and this informal time created a bond that flowed beautifully into the more structured parts of the day.

One of the highlights for me was our discussion on religious terminology in Reiki. Some participants had questions about the invocations that include terms like “God” and the use of angels. We delved into a conversation about how these spiritual beings existed long before religion claimed ownership of them. Angels and archangels are universal, and it felt powerful to reclaim that understanding. As a group, we chose to use the term “Source” instead of “God” in some instances to feel into the meaning of the words in a way that resonated more deeply with each of us.

I also shared with the group my personal connection to the Pendulum, which I use often in healings and in my everyday life. For me, it offers clarity, guidance, and sometimes reveals truths that I may not want to hear but need to! It’s a tool I hold close to my heart, and I loved introducing it to others who were curious to explore it further.

Throughout the weekend, I could feel the energy shifting in the room. Some participants shared that they had felt the presence of this energy in their lives even days before the training began, while others came with very specific questions and hesitations. It was beautiful to witness the unfolding of their experiences and see them open up to the power of life force energy.

Reiki Level 1 is all about coming back to your own center, and I emphasize the importance of protection as part of this journey. I see Reiki’s magic in my life every day, and I look forward to sharing that magic with more people. I will be moving slowly with this work to give it the attention and gentle introduction it deserves. I’ll continue hosting Reiki Level 1 trainings through the end of 2025, with the intention of opening into Reiki 2 trainings in 2026—or sooner if I feel the calling. My next Level 1 training is scheduled for 16th November and 7th December, and I’m excited to step further into this journey.

If you’re curious about Reiki or feel a pull towards exploring this beautiful energy for yourself, I’d love to have you join us. There is something truly transformative about this work, and I’m grateful to be walking this path alongside others.
